Hand held Computers or Handhelds
When the term handheld computer is used it is usually to describe palm type devices. In reality the Hand held computer is a distinct segment of the PDA market running the handheld PC 2000 operating system. Handhelds are a kind of mini notebook computer with a clamshell design and small keyboard. These handhelds synchronize data with your desktop computers allowing you to have your important documents with you whenever you need them without having to take your notebook wherever you go.
Although handheld computers are larger than the Palms and Pocket PC's they are still enough to fit into a coat pocket and generally have good battery life. The small keyboard of the handheld may be difficult for people with large hands though. There is plenty of third party software available for the handheld platform.
Like the Pocket PC, Handhelds are 'instant on' devices with operating system and applications built in. But unlike the Pocket PC devices, the Handheld computers have larger screens and their keyboards make heavier data entry sessions a lot more enjoyable.
The Handhelds usually have a Compact Flash slot and a PC Card slot that most Pocket PCs do not support, giving it even more wireless communications and expansion options. Handheld PC 2000 also comes with built in MP3 player, Internet Explorer for Handheld PC.
